New Balance 843 Walking Shoes

When most people think of walking shoes, New Balance is the company that comes to mind.  While bigger companies like Nike and Adidas spend more on marketing to own the sporting footwear lines, New Balance is the undisputed champion of the walking shoe.  The New Balance 843 shoes are one of this company's most popular models.  It features quite a few technological features that New Balance proudly invented.  The shoes are also available for both men and women.  In the following text, you'll find an overview of the different features of the 843 as well as a few pros and cons.  If you're interested in buying New Balance shoes, I suggest you check online.  There are a ton of good shoe sites on the Internet that offer exceptional deals on all sorts of shoes.  Even if the shoe you're keen in on is discontinued, some online stores will have a few pairs in stock.  Because there is so much competition on the Internet, it's also possible to get some really cheap prices!

New Balance is known for some very innovative features on all their walking and running shoes.  The 843's are no different.  One of the neatest things about this particular model is the ROLLBAR feature that comes standard on both the men's and the women's model.  The rollbar basically works like a rolling cage on an SUV does.  It prevents common injuries to the ankle that results from running or walking.  If you've ever rolled your ankle, you know how beneficial this feature could be.  Another feature found on this shoe is what New Balance calls the ABZORB technology.  This is an extra bit of cushion that sits in between the bottom of your foot and the sole of the shoe.  It ensures that the front of your foot is cushioned by using a bit of shock absorption.  The last really cool bit of technology on this shoe is the Walking Strike Path.  This feature actually helps people walk the "right" way.  You see, many people develop bad habits by walking incorrectly.  Over time, this can have some really negative effects on your legs and lower body.  The New Balance 843 women's and men's shoes really work to encourage good walking posture and gait.

New Balance 843's - The Verdict

So are these shoes worth the money?  In my ever so humble opinion - Yes!  While they are not perfect, these shoes are pretty darn close - Here's why.  They are very durable.  Several online reviews by runners and walkers the world over claim that they've had their 843's for years.  Generally speaking, a walking or running shoe that lasts for this long is incredibly tough and durable.  These shoes are also comfortable.  There isn't really even a breaking in period for them.  With most walking shoes, you have to suffer through a couple weeks of blisters and scabs before the shoes fit properly.  This isn't the case with 843's.  Some folks even find that these New Balance beauties don't even have to be used for walking!  If you spend a lot of time on your feet - maybe at work, maybe at the DMV - these shoes would work wonders for you.  Comfort is key when you're considering a new shoe folks.

As I said though, the New Balance 843 walking shoes aren't perfect.  While they do offer above average support for walking, they don't offer quite as much as a running shoe.  My suggestion is to try one of New Balance's running shoes if you do a lot of jogging or track and field.  Another thing that should be noted is New Balance shoes tend to fit a bit small.  This means that you should probably buy a shoe that's 1/2 size too big for you.  This will sort out the size problem.
